Internet Fax
What is the benefit?
You can save time and money by using Internet Fax feature. You can send fax
message to anywhere in the world without making an international telephone
call. Internet fax feature provides you not only simple sending and receiving
fax message but forwarding or broadcasting fax messages.
Fax transmissions go through the Internet transported via e-mail servers.
You can select already programmed addresses from one touch/speed dial
locations, or enter text using dial pad by pressing Shift + [1].
Receiving Internet Fax
When your Brother MFC is used on the network it is capable of receiving Internet
Faxes from other Internet Fax machines
E-mail and Fax Forwarding
Received e-mail and fax messages can be forwarded to other Fax machine via
standard telephone line, PC or Internet Fax via E-mail. This function can be
configured using the Web management Utility or through the front panel. (Please
see your MFC User guide to check that this function is supported. This function
is only for monochrome models.)
Relayed Broadcasting
The feature of relay broadcasting allows the Brother MFC in conjunction with the
optional NC-8100h Print/Fax Server to be used as a Relay Station, allowing
users to send a document as an e-mail attachment (Tiff-f file format) from
either a Brother MFC or PC over the medium known as the internet to another
Brother MFC, which can then relay that message to up to 48 G3 fax machine over
conventional telephone lines.
Relay
Broadcasting requires the Brother MFC be connected to an E-mail Server on a LAN
that is connected directly to the Internet. The E-mail server must support both
the SMTP and POP3 protocols.
In a way of securing the Brother MFC it needs to be configured in such a way
that only certain domains can be trusted to Relay Broadcast through the
FAX/MFC. To use this function, you must specify domain names that you trust at
the MFC. If your e-mail address is jack@brother.co.uk, your domain name can be
identified as "brother.co.uk."
E-mail address is followed by desired standard phone number of FAX machine for
example, "MFC@brother.com(FAX#111-2222)"
For example, if you are in London and your branch office is in L.A., you can
save International call charge to send fax to your customer in Seattle via MFC
in the branch office in L.A.
How to use?
You are requested to properly configure E-mail server setting (SMTP, POP3
address, e-mail address for MFC, user ID, and password to access e-mail
servers) by using web browser management or MFC's front panel to use this
function.
Did you know?
The NC-8100h Print/Fax Server supports the popular ITU T.37 recommendation for
Internet fax. This means that your Internet Fax machine can communicate with
other Internet fax machines that support this standard.
