Network Scanning/Scan to E-mail

What is the benefit?

When using the NC-8100h Print / Fax Server the feature Scan to E-mail (Network Scanning) gives you the capability of scanning documents or images directly from your MFC to e-mail accounts anywhere in the Internet or intranet in either Mono or Color (*1).

(*1) Color Scan to e-mail is only supported on MFC's with color scanner capability. Please check your MFC documentation. MFC9700 users may need to check and download the latest version of firmware from this web site to use the color Scan to E-mail feature.
If your MFC displayed "NC-8100h firmware update req'd:Visit website"

You need to download the latest version of firmware for your MFC by selecting the model number from the solutions centre homepage and then selecting the "Download" icon.

How to use?

Scanned images will be sent as E-mail attachment files. You are requested to properly configure E-mail server setting (SMTP, POP3 address, e-mail address for MFC, user ID, and password to access e-mail servers) by using web browser management or MFC's front panel to use this function.

Did you know?

1. You can send scanned image to multiple recipients. After you enter one e-mail address, press [SET] key to enter another E-mail address.

2. Some E-mail servers do not allow you to send large E-mail documents (the System Administrator will often place a limit on the maximum E-mail size). You can enable the Limit Size of the Sent Mail feature. The machine will display "Memory Full" when trying to send E-mail documents over 1Mbyte in size.

3. As for B/W scanning, you can also use Internet Fax function to scan and send B/W images to E-mail account.

4. Color Scan to E-mail (*1) supports resolutions of up to 600 x 600 dpi which can generate very large files. Therefore we strongly recommend that you update the MFC memory (*1) if you intend to scan at these resolutions. Please refer to FAQ section for detailed information on upgrading your MFC memory.

(*1) Please check your MFC documentation to ensure that your MFC supports "Color scanner" and "optional memory".

5. If you receive an "OUT OF MEMORY" message while scanning to e-mail in color try again by reducing the resolution or upgrade the memory as advised in 4.

To see if your Brother printer supports these and other capabilities, visit the Brother Solutions Center web site at http://solutions.brother.com.
